IDOLBIBLE REVIEW

Orange Park

Catchy melody + Sweet Sour Harmony + Up beat play

Some of the readers might have seen the TV program.

NHK documentary program “Globe Walker”.

This program documented an Indy band active around NYC past January, and then many people from Japan accessed the band’s web site. After that, the words spread and even though they were already recognized in their home country, their popularities passed over pacific ocean became even bigger in Japan.

More surprisingly, they landed Japan even before their first album release.

The name this band is Orange Park. It was formed by brothers of Jeff and Justin Moore, cousin Jaye Moore and long time friend, Chris “Harv” Harvey who started the band at a basement of their home in Brooklyn in 2001.

Year of 2002, they met producer Pete Min and self released EP “The Extended Play”.

You don’t hear this pure straight power pop melodies very often these days.

Reaction for their sound was pretty good.

Many magazines wrote about them and their music was aired on many collage radios.

Not only that, their lead track of “Make Up Your Mind” was featured on compilation album or MTV show “The Real World”

Orange Park was getting recognized and started to fly out tot eh world.

Truly NHK program “Globe Walker” took the perfect timing to air their documentaries.

Some people might say that they are just lucky band who’s documentary got aired on TV.

But even if their music was exposed through TV, if the band itself didn’t have any magnetic talent, they couldn’t attract people’s feeling.

Their power pop sound is often compared with Foo Fighters, Oasis, Cheap Trick and Beatles are very familiar to Japanese listeners, but they were probably shining because they were about to jump out to the world.

(By the way, I missed the program, but my family member who watched the program were checking out their web site immediately).

Their long waiting debut album that was released on December in Japan “Songs From The Unknown” has quicken with 4 guys hope and commitment. The song “Make Up Your Mind” that has made them well known in US was released in UK as well.

They seem to never rely on bubble gum music. Catchy melody and sweet and sour harmony and upbeat sound, basically true elements as rock band created 12 songs will be welcomed by many rock fans.

It’s not punk, it’s not metal, this kind of guitar rock sound sounds like it’s out there, but you don’t hear very often.

Debut of Orange Park in Japan might become a very special hope.
